geoAMPS takes top honors among Healthiest Employers

geoAMPS received top honors at the Healthiest Employers in Central Ohio awards ceremony March 27.
 
The technology company, which specializes in software solutions to manage land rights and infrastructure assets, was chosen No. 1 in the Small Organization category (up to 99 employees). geoAMPS was honored for its outstanding employee health programs.
 
geoAMPS was one of 10 finalists in the Small Organization category. How those finalists placed 1-10 was announced at the event held in the Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH.
 
There also were 10 finalists in the Medium Organization category (100 to 499 employees) and 15 in the Large Organization category (500 employees or more).
Approximately 100 companies throughout Central Ohio submitted nominations for a chance to be recognized as one of the Healthiest Employers in Central Ohio.
 
The awards program was organized by Columbus Business First, a weekly business newspaper serving Columbus and the Central Ohio region, in partnership with Healthiest Employers, an organization based in Indianapolis. This is the second year for the awards program, but the first year that it culminated in an awards ceremony. OhioHealth is presenting sponsor of the program. Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsored the special supplement about the awards program in the March 28 edition of Business First.
 
The honorees and overall winners were chosen through Healthiest Employers’ scoring methodology applied to each nomination form, David Alder, Director of Technology and Product Development at Healthiest Employers, explained.
 
“This is a tremendous honor of which geoAMPS is very appreciative and proud to receive,” Yogesh Khandelwal, President and Chief Executive Officer of geoAMPS, said. “We congratulate the other honorees in the Small Organization category. Each of them does a great service to their employees by offering outstanding health initiatives.”
 
Leena Madan, Chief Operating Officer of geoAMPS, said providing a healthy environment is a priority at geoAMPS.
 
“We understand there could be long hours, there is a lot of tension and stress that we go through. We want to make sure everybody in the office has a good environment to work in,” she said. “It started with the fact that our employees are our assets. We do not treat them as resources. And we will do anything to protect our assets.”
 
Through geoAMPS’ group medical insurance provider, employees have the opportunity to save on the cost of gym memberships, and treadmills and other exercise equipment they can use at home. They can participate in a home weight-loss program. Health coaching is available, which can help employees quit smoking, reduce stress, lose weight and eliminate or reduce other factors that contribute to poor health.
 
geoAMPS offers health programs at the company’s headquarters in Powell, OH. Yoga classes are provided two evenings a week, led by a certified yoga instructor. Regular massages by a licensed masseuse are also available.
 
geoAMPS provides yoga balls for employees to sit on during meetings. The company also provides standing desks.
 
“A lot of our employees love that,” Leena said. “They stand while they work. The desk comes with a program that tells them how much time they should be standing and working or sitting and working.”
 
geoAMPS was started in 2011. Although it is still considered a startup, geoAMPS is providing health programs that rival those offered by large established companies.
