geoAMPS product featured in Biomass magazine

The December 2013 edition of Biomass magazine includes an article on how the geoAMPS software product altAMPS benefits companies in the biogas arena.

Biomass Managing Editor Anna Simet compiled an article titled "Biogas Product Prospectus," which cites the expectation that the global biogas equipment market will boom over the next several years.

The article includes information from producers and providers that she writes “are a mix of innovative equipment with relevance to one or more of each respective biogas use.”

Included among companies and products serving the biogas market is geoAMPS and its altAMPS software. altAMPS is one of the suite of industry-specific software products provided by geoAMPS. altAMPS is specially designed to meet the needs of the alternative energy industry, including bioenergy.

altAMPS centralizes project information in an online database where information is collaborative across the entire organization. Project data can be accessed and worked with on computers, tablets and mobile devices.

“altAMPS provides end-to-end management of projects in biogas and other alternative energy projects, bringing information on planning, acquisition, construction, operations and maintenance together in one easy-to-use and secure platform,” the article states.
Yogesh Khandelwal, President and Chief Executive Officer of geoAMPS, said the use of altAMPS produces measurable return on investment.

“Through the cost savings possible by using altAMPS, companies have the opportunity to complete more projects, which will both benefit the industry and advance the increased use of alternative sources to meet our growing global energy needs,” he said.

By using altAMPS, bioenergy and other alternative energy companies can realize savings of up to 35 percent through project efficiencies. This is especially helpful for those biogas companies still reliant upon spreadsheets, email and paper records for company operations and to develop and maintain projects.

The Biomass magazine article explains that “the purpose of altAMPS is to create an environmentally friendly and highly efficient tool for the operation and maintenance of alternative energy projects, allowing information to flow easily through the entire organization.”

Simet writes that the potential of biogas “is seemingly endless due to a number of factors, especially its versatility.”

According to BBC Research, she notes, the global market for biogas plant equipment was worth $3 billion in 2010, but estimates are that it will reach $8.6 billion by 2016. That’s a growth rate of nearly 20 percent. The North American market for biogas production equipment was valued at $510 million in 2011, but that is forecast to reach nearly $1.2 billion by 2016.

“Such robust market growth means construction of many more plants,” Simet writes.

Research and market analysts predict worldwide installed capacity of biogas will increase by approximately 60 percent in only five years, with the number of biogas plants increasing from 9,700 to 13,500.

“Equipment manufacturers are readying themselves to meet fast-growing demand,” Simet states.
