geoAMPS celebrates GIS Day

Representatives of geoAMPS joined in the celebration of national GIS Day Nov. 20 on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Joe Jordan, Brock Hicks and Lindsey Barrett represented the geoAMPS team for GIS Day activities at The Ohio Union. The theme for this year’s national observance of GIS Day was“Discovering the World through GIS.”

GIS Day provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to demonstrate real-world applications, like those offered at geoAMPS, which are making a difference in society.

The geoAMPS team members talked with OSU students and faculty about how geoAMPS incorporates GIS technology into its industry-specific suite of products. They also demonstrated geoAMPS’ web-based GIS viewer.
“The geoAMPS team greatly appreciates joining in GIS Day activities at Ohio State,” Joe said. “The all-day event was an excellent opportunity to share advances in GIS capabilities and showcase how GIS technology enhances the robust software products developed here at geoAMPS.”

As Product Development Manager, Joe leads the development and maintenance of the web-based GIS viewer and detached application for geoAMPS.

geoAMPS specializes in software solutions to manage land right and infrastructure assets. It offers a wide range of software products tailored to meet the needs of organizations in such industries as alternative energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, transportation, surveying and transportation.
Another geoAMPS product is gisAMPS, which provides mapping capability that can be coupled with any of the geoAMPS suite of products for an intuitive geospatial view that is compliant with mapping technologies. gisAMPS can be leveraged to integrate with an existing data-gathering system to add mapping capability. gisAMPS’ dashboard-like capability provides real-time monitoring of an organization’s projects and assets through color-coded maps and layers.

The geoAMPS’ GIS viewer allows geospatial visualization and reporting of parcel information within a specific project area. The viewer provides color-coding and labeling capability as well as the ability to route-plan, upload and view documents, add notes and many other functions. Users of the technology can select from various base maps and imagery, including satellite and street maps. geoAMPS products support mobile devices, providing field agents the flexibility to work in either attached or detached/disconnected modes.

“As strong supporters of educational opportunities in the Central Ohio community, geoAMPS welcomed the opportunity to share with the GIS Day participants some of the extensive practical applications made possible through geospatial mapping,” Yogesh Khandelwal, President and Chief Executive Officer of geoAMPS, said.
