American Red Cross Appreciates geoAMPS Support

DELAWARE, OH - Purses, purses and more purses! The second annual Power of the Purse fundraiser, sponsored by Huntington, netted a record $33,000 for the American Red Cross’s charitable work — the most ever raised by an event benefitting the Delaware chapter.

10TV news anchor Angela An served as the evening’s emcee. Joining her was auctioneer

Amelia Jeffers, President of Garth’s Auction. Both were key players to the event’s success, auctioning 38 designer handbags to 300 ladies along with incentives donated by local businesses.

Mary Navarro, Senior Executive Vice President for Huntington, said, “The Red Cross ‘Power of the Purse’ was energizing! With 300 women there to support the Red Cross of Delaware County, it was a very social event, with three important outcomes—seeing old friends and making new ones, women buying purses stuffed with goodies from the local business community, and most importantly, raising money for the great work the Red Cross does in our community. Huntington was proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for this event and looks forward to next year.”

Leena Madan, Chief Operating Officer of geoAMPs, Silver Sponsor of the event, concurred. “The Power of the Purse is an outstanding community event. This year's event was another evening of fun and fund-raising. geoAMPS is pleased to have had the opportunity to be a Silver Sponsor of Power of the Purse and continue our support of the important work done by the American Red Cross.”

Tracey Wilson, executive director of the Delaware County Red Cross told the crowd that evening, “This is truly amazing! Your support tonight raised $21,160 in the live auction alone.”

The live auction featured a Gucci handbag with $1,665 of products and services from Central Ohio Skin Care; a custom pantry or cabinet makeover valued at $2,500 from Shelfgenie of Columbus; and the item that brought a standing ovation: a coral Kate Spade handbag filled with a five treatment laser package donated by Roxy Plastic Surgery that sold for $3,500—enough to provide emergency shelter for 70 people affected by a disaster.

Special thanks to the event sponsors: Huntington, geoAMPS LLC, N2 publishing, Garth’s Auction, J. Bentley Studio & Spa, Davis Family, Cindy Dinovo, Dostal & Kirk, Eastham Family, Fairholm Family, First Citizens National Bank, Gordon Law Office, Don Grubbs, Henry & Kuraly, Richwood Bank, Trading Places, Roxy Plastic Surgery, Canvas Salon & Skin Bar, Pierce Cleaners, Russell & Guests, ServPro, Bob Sumerel Tires and Heidi Sorin & John Albrecht.
